For millennia people struggled endlessly in the daily quest for food, clothing, and shelter. However, by any measure one wishes to use, social, economic, or otherwise, the world is growing rapidly more wealthy, everywhere. In 1960, CARE reported that 60% of the world lived in poverty. That figure is now down to 30%, and should halve again by 2015, even as the population of the world rises rapidly as well.
