The highly successful Clementine mission gave scientists their first global look at the Moon. It collected a huge amount of data, and for the first time both the near and far side of the Moon were mapped. Based on the information gathered by this mission and the later Lunar Prospector mission, this unique atlas contains 144 lunar astronautical charts covering the entire Moon, and color plates showing the lunar composition and physical properties. Complemented by stunning lunar imagery, the first part of the atlas describes the origin and geological evolution of the Moon, and gives a brief history of lunar science and exploration. The second consists of lunar maps showing the entire lunar surface in uniform scale and format. It includes one of the most complete lunar nomenclature databases, listing all named craters and other features, making this an indispensable reference for professional planetary and space scientists, and amateur astronomers.
