这本小书对于以W.D.Hamilton的亲缘选择为核心的进化理论有很好的概述，作者显然对他所谈论的东西有很深的理解，在引入了不少精彩实例的同时保持了行文的严谨。虽然作者在前言中说：对于自然的好奇是读此书唯一的必要条件，但我觉得这并非是一本可以轻松阅读的科普著作。可能正是因为力有不逮，非科班出身的译者译出了一些拗口的句子，略感遗憾。
