向来喜读威廉•达尔林普（William Dalrymple）的印度史，例如White Mughals，The City of Djinns和The Last Mughal，尤其是最后一部作品，写得细致入微，分寸恰到好处，同时文笔生动流畅，实在是比较难得。于是便购得他的首部著作《In Xanadu》，在初秋周末的早晨，瘫在躺椅上缓缓读之。书名典出柯勒律治的名诗，...(0回应)

读《末代莫卧儿》一书，觉得中印两国间，相似之处还是很多的。 Bahadur Shah在诗歌、玄学和绘画的造诣，有同后主转世（一旦归为臣虏，沉腰潘鬓消磨之句，可谓为两位量身定做）。其历史境遇则犹如周赧王（也都有着天下共主的虚位），包括债台高筑的典故。而在德里兵变中，上层统治者与义军的貌合神离，又酷似清末义和...(0回应)
