国内东野的书是越出越多，质量也是越来越差。推理小说该有的阅读快感还在，但总觉得比《放学后》少了些什么。

纽约客
我一直觉得小说开头最难读，没想到《纽约客》意外的畅快且自然。六个短篇，从凌晨开始看，太快的看完了。白先勇的功力在于，一个短小的故事，就道尽了几十年的风雨，这多少和他家学深厚，自小经历丰富有关。但跨度太大，进展太快也有弊病。故事包容的太多，导致故事本身没有办法做到精致细腻。如果没有白先勇的阅历做支撑，恐怕，但就故事本身，都只算平庸。

The Cherokee Removal
I am astonished to find that when people are seeking their interest, they can be more selfish than u can possibly imagine. I was totally disappointed at the choice of those distinguished statesmen, whether Andrew Jackson or Lewis Cass. The interest of party and their sense of racial superiority finally won over their consciousness.

(1)something can be done as well as others.(2)too much description about the horror of Niagara falls and Genesee Falls. Too many primary sources make this book enormously boring!!
