A good book. I would like to read it twice. Scientific inquiries and hypothesis-test procedures scatter around the book. It is much more interesting than story telling history books.

感觉这本书是把一篇论文写成了一大本书，所以颇有些啰嗦。如果cut成一半会好很多。2003年后的补记部分有点意思。人家书出版后，比尔盖茨还有BCG等给了很多思考和意见。

The book soundly responds to several questions puzzling me for years in regard to archaeology and anthropology. The evidence iis fully explained and well-organised. The writer intentionally avoids Eurocentric stance, but somehow falls into the trap of determinism. Some chapter could have been shortened though, definitely worth reading
