相隔四年後，1995年，史帝芬森創造出一部以上海為場景，圍繞一本用高階先進奈米科技構成的「少齡淑女繪本啟蒙瓊林」，和這本讀物伴隨長大的小女孩為情節的科技科幻鉅作：THE DIAMOND AGE 鑽石年代（全球中文版由「開元書印」製作發行）。這個動人成長故事的背後，是高度奈米科技時代--------一個人類沒有任何匱乏的時代，科技帶給人類新的階級尺度，也重新挑戰人類存在的意義。這是史帝芬森進入科技科幻寫作領域的重要著作。
鑽石年代 ---- THE DIAMOND AGE 在1996年榮獲科幻小說界三大獎項之一「雨果獎」的年度最佳小說大獎（Hugo Award for Best Novel），同年也入圍角逐「星雲獎」年度最佳小說大獎，但並未獲獎。
隨後，他於1999年出版 Cryptonomicon；
2003年出版 "The Baroque Cycle" volume I：Quicksilver；
2004年出版 "The Baroque Cycle" volume II：The Confusion；
2004年出版 "The Baroque Cycle" volume III：The System of the World；
2008年出版 Anathem。
