East German regime pursued the industrial pig to realize the project of “real, existing socialism,” one of which is affordable food. While the industrial factory was originated and established in America, GDR kind of unwittingly adopted a capitalist model in the development towards their technological utopian. While the industrial success in GDR drew them deeper and deeper into the global market in the 1970s and 80s, the ideological commitments towards socialism actually weakened.
