Living as we do, anxiety and uncertainty go with the terrain. This makes for a paradox: we now have much more freedom and control over our lives than our ancestors, yet we are arguably more unsure of how to act than they who just 'did what they had to'. 

Living in a 'post-traditional' society is full of paradoxes, to insatiable appetite for information, but for now we may stress that this world has an insatiable appetite for information, one driven by the questioning of all traditions and a yearning to 'take control' at all levels, form the corporate and political to the personal.
