Ghosting
Ghosting is a prerogative of the freedom to exit sexual-romantic contracts at any point. As a specific form of exit, it does not require explanations or saving face. Ghosting is, in fact, an expression both of the fact that exiting relationships is fairly <routine> and <standard practice> and that people feel increasingly unobligated to provide explanations for it.
Sarah, a fifty-two-year-old Israeli woman expresses in powerful terms how her <sense of self was diminished> by having been ghosted by her girlfriend.
Exiting is so widespread that it creates ripple effects on the entire way of forming and conceiving relationships.
This take on things [has] spread to other relations as well, so if you meet someone in real life, you can "try them on" for a while, and then put them back on the shelf without explanation. This makes it <extra hurtful and confusing.>
We have failed to inquire about the extent towhich the repeated or frequent experience of breakup may harm the possibility of holding on to a secure sense of self and of forming durable and meaningful relationships.
