To Him Who Waits

Personally speaking I don't think this a good story,even it contains the crush up of a dream,the meaninglessness of the insisting.Firstly the hermit in this story do not have a distinctive personality or characteristic,the author just imagine the pic of a hermit by himself.On the contrary,The Great Gatsby,a novel contains similar elements,use much more effective way or strategy makes the character lively. The 'tragic'  ending of this story is not surprising (not like any other o henry's famous work) even not wry.
