There is certainly more awareness in China of the Western world, Africa, and the Eastern world. And there is an awareness that China is now very much part of the world. What happens in China is reported in the world. When I was a student in the UK, I spent hours in the library reading the newspapers and couldn't find anything about China. And now hardly a day passes without news about China. So China is on the world centre stage, that's for sure. There is awareness of this reality on the part of China, not only among the leaders but at the public level as well. And I think we also realise whatever decision we make, we need now to think what kind of impact it will make on the world. Even for domestic issues, it still can affect the world. And likewise, whatever happens in the world can concern China and the Chinese. And Chinese are everywhere and Chinese interests have spread beyond its borders. We have 45 million Chinese travelling abroad every year.引自 China Is a New Story
