Intro章的结尾：you are smarter than your data. Pearl在这本书里介绍的新兴学科：Causal inference填补了data science和statistics的空白，为人们研究causation构建了科学语言和语法。我觉得挺有意思的. 
上学期上intro to data science，每天不停fit各种regression model到不同的dataset上，只觉得这也太单调无聊了吧。更主要的是，我很怀疑这样的statistical approach到底能够提供多少有价值的信息：quantify两个变量之间的correlation对我来说远远不算是在解决问题，甚至连提出问题都算不太上。我更想知道谁是cause谁是effect，而这个问题被statistics完全忽略。像Pearl说的：
The hope(of many researchers) is that the data themselves will guide us to the right answers whenever causal questions come up. 
然鹅data mining & summarization能够提供的信息非常有限，“data are profoundly dumb about causes and effects. ”
