1 System 1 — the intuition
“We identify ourselves with system 2, the conscious, reasoning self that has believes, and decides what to think about and what to do.”
“...system 1 is where the action is.”
• But system 1 — is also part of me. I am interested in learning how can I efficiently utilize and manipulate system 1.
“System 1 (is) the effortlessly originating impressions and feelings that are main sources of explicit believes and deliberate choices of system 2.”
You are asked to do something that does not come naturally... the consistent maintenance of a set requires continuous exertion of at least some effort.
• system 2 requires efforts.
“Most of what you think and do originates in your System 1, but system 2 takes over when things get difficult, it normally has the last word.”
When things get difficult — 148 hard example, system 2 stepped in to do the math; when I get too 焦虑 system 2 takes me through the objective vision.
But why is it that I failed 148. My system 2 stepped in however was unsuccessful. Energy depleted. Then system 1 runs autopilot — to avoid and escape.
• How to internalize some set and sound instructions into system 1?
Division of labour is highly efficient: minimize effort and optimizes performance.
System 1 has biases, however, systematic errors that it is prone to make in specified circumstances.
- answer easier questions
- Little understanding of logic and statistics
- Cannot be turned off (if you are shown a word on screen in a language known u WILL read it)
Do you really need to internalize all the math to proceed further? No, it is more important to KEEP GOING rather than PERFECT. I shall not be impacted by sunk cost.
总结:
System 1 is the main of story, action; however I usually identify with system 2. I need to know and accept system 1.
