A Clean, Well-Lighted Place

“I am of those who like to stay late at the café,” the older waiter said. “With all those who do not want to go to bed. With all those who need a light for the night.”
 After all, he said to himself, it is probably only insomnia. Many must have it.
虽然读这篇短文是因为那句著名的“我同情…” 但读了三遍以后我最爱的竟然是结尾，“It is probably only insomnia. Many must have it.” 拿这句话结尾太适合不过了！太有一切虚空的感觉了！
虽然今晚在这干净明亮的地方，“我们”三个人产生了奇妙的联系，“我”也因此感到更加空虚和孤独，但当“我”回到自己的房间，又像每个人做的那样，欺骗自己———所有的空虚，可能只是因为失眠吧，也许，天亮，一切就会好的吧……
不过，当然一切不会变好，总有人会需要那个干净明亮的咖啡馆，正如年长的侍者本人。
