科学在路上

对科学最重要的两个字，不是相信科学，而是质疑科学。

我们对科学的理解，其实不太科学。科学不是理性的代名词，不是万无一失，科学不是…简单点说，科学有局限。科学，算是唯心主义的。

1.不是讲科学地认识世界吗，但事实是，认识世界是建立在“人类”的感官之上的，建立在人类视角上的。我们观察的结果，只是以一种我们可以理解的方式呈现给我们了。

由此带来的问题有，我们能否观察世界。如果说，一棵树我们能观察到，那么原子呢，这种东西我们是可以观察的吗？我们“观察”到的样子是它真的样子吗？这个世界是可知的吗？其实，我觉得答案更多是，以人类的视角知。

科学也有相对主义，Moreover, Kuhn questioned whether the concept of objective truth actually makes sense at all. The idea that there is a fixed set of facts about the world, independent of any particular paradigm, was of dubious coherence, he believed. Kuhn suggested a radical alternative: the facts about the world are paradigm-relative, and thus change when paradigms change. If this suggestion is right, then it makes no sense to ask whether a given theory corresponds to the facts ‘as they really are’, nor therefore to ask whether it is objectively true. Truth itself becomes relative to a paradigm.

（我的一个疑惑是，数字的发明。太神奇了，数学是完全的抽象，但是哥白尼用了数学语言来解释复杂物体运动，把它用到了物体上。我疑惑的是，怎么办到的呢！用一套完全抽象的数学概念，来认识这个世界，仿佛自成一体。）

2.西方科学，传统上都是有个大前提在，然后从这个general law来推其他理论，来解释世界。一种方式是，Hempel’s model of explanation can be written as follows: General laws + Particular facts ⇒ Phenomenon to be explained. 但这个general law或许并没有被完全证明，但仍旧被使用，被相信，不够唯心吗？不算leap in faith吗？

科学或许能部分解释世界。这个世界还有很多我们没有认识的东西，water is H2O, 这个不是解释，再解释你还得解释H2O…然后推推推，天荒地老，可能回到起源的问题，回到大爆炸之前的问题，然而这些问题我们目前还不能解释。又有人说用因果解释，但因果本身需要解释，为了解释A，牵出B，又不得不解释B…最后总会牵涉到我们解释不了的东西。

3.现在的科学，有很大部分是inductive方式推导的，而不是deductive。太阳东升西落，但有可能明天就不是这样了！这个可能性是存在的。大部分科学结论是通过实验得多，但实验并不能包括所有情况。它代表的是一种可能性，99.99%，99%，但那0.11%呢？这点就是休谟的怀疑论攻击的地方。

因为这本书就是科学哲学，所以探讨的很多是概念性的问题，在实际操作中，我觉得就算有上面那些质疑，对科学的发展其实影响不大。There is a long tradition of philosophers trying to tell scientists what is and isn’t possible, and later scientific developments have often proved the philosophers wrong. 上面所说的也只是质疑科学，但并不代表，否定科学。对它的质疑只是为了更好的认识它罢了。…His book was not an attempt to cast doubt on the rationality of science, he argued, but rather to offer a more realistic, historically accurate picture of how science actually develops. By neglecting the history of science, the positivists had been led to an excessively simplistic, indeed idealistic, account of how science works, and Kuhn’s aim was simply to provide a corrective. He was not trying to show that science was irrational, but rather to provide a better account of what scientific rationality involves.

科学在路上，今日回答不了的，今日质疑的，我们wait and see。
