subject 对简体版本 Perl Hacks 严重失望!
Dear Sirs/Madams,
I hereby express my extreme angry complaint and disappointment on one
book I bought -- O'reilly Perl Hacks Simplified Chinese Translation by
Liu Ying of Tsinghua University Express.
O'reilly is a qualified computer punisher popular in China IT field,
although the books are usually a little expensive. However, Perl Hacks
SimCHN Translation is full of mistakes.
Here are some examples:
1:the translator knows nothing about IT jargons:
P44 Hack#13:"又只有在其首次阅读期间神奇般的自开放"。
but only magically self-opens during the first read operation on it ,
The "read" has been translated into chinese as "read" in "reading
book". Differ from "read" as in "read a file".
2:the translator knows nothing about English life:
P53 Hack#16 的"除非你是卡片游戏机排外的狂热爱好者"。
Unless you're exclusively a fan of card games,
"card game"has been wrongly translated into "card game console" while
"CPU power",has been translated into "CPU is more powerful" in
Chinese.
3:the translator knows nothing about English:
P62 Hack#18:"Mozilla Firefox 的 Greasemonkey 扩展程序和相关的浏览器"。
The Greasemonkey extension for Mozilla Firefox and related browsers。
The book writes "The Greasemonkey extension for Mozilla Firefox, and
the related browsers". The same mistake happend at:
P72 Hack#21 "在电子表格中显示所有数据"
Showing all data in a spreadsheet。
Being wrongly translated into: Showing all the data in your spreadsheet.
The translator amazes to me.
4:the translator knows nothing about using a (fine) dictionary:
P185 Hack#66:"窃取基准"。
原文:Cheat on Benchmarks。
The translator decides "Stealing the benchmarks".
I don't know where can he or she go any further.
I'd like to hear from you about my complaints. Or "no news is good news?"
Regards.
