Aside from the religious part that I really don't understand, the first few parts resonate with the author's psychology, but in the end I didn't see the "answer" I wanted, so I prefer to read this book To be a "on the road" book, it is Pistorius not Demian, and every one of us who follows Demian's footsteps and explores "on the road". The more I get to the back, the stronger the sense of religious stream of consciousness, and it feels more and more crazy and extreme (even giving me a sense of cult brainwashing propaganda), so I just finished reading it hastily. As for the "answer", Hesse seems to only give the proposition of "finding oneself", and does not teach us the method. But that's enough. After all, "finding oneself" is a difficult and personal thing, and everyone's situation is different, and it would be nonsense if anyone now claims to have found a "universal path to finding oneself." Once "universal" becomes "collective", it goes back and forth. Finally, hopefully in my lifetime I too get a kiss from Demian.
