Today I finally finished the novel《P.S. I Love You》by Cecelia Ahern.It's a brilliant novel and I love it so much.I bought it on 23th April and spent almost one month reading it;it's been a fantastic journey which I rather enjoyed.I decided to see the movie adapted from it maybe tomorrow.It happened that the movie is starring by Gerard Butler,a handsome actor.I've seen another movie by him called《The Bounty Hunter》.Actually I'm looking forward to the movie.
"P.S. I Love You"is the regular ending of Gerry's letter to Holly,all the ten short letters!You may be curious about these mysterious letters,well,they are indeed mysterious cause they're from Holly's dead husband Gerry after he died from the brain tumour.Wondering when did he write all these letters?There's no point asking for the exact time.All I should know is that Gerry did put all his wishes down to inform his devastating wife that life is going on,even without him.I really appreciate Gerry's kind and caring behaviour. To some degree, the ten letters have become Holly's Ten Commandments telling what she should or should not do.Holly survived with the letters leading her.As the sentence says on the cover of the novel,sometimes it's about living life one letter at a time.At least it's true for Holly who lost her beloved husband and lost in life.These letters told Holly where to go next and pushed her ahead to a brand new life,and eventually Holly did get over the grief and was ready to go on.It's a romantic love story between Gerry and Holly,though Gerry didn't even exist at the very beginning of the story.I'm so envious of the couple!The speech Holly gave in her friend Denise's wedding impressed me so much that I've to quote the moving sentences here.
"Finding someone you love and who loves you back is a wonderful,wonderful feeling.But finding a true soul mate is an even better feeling.A soul mate is someone who understands you like no other,loves you like no other,will be there for you for ever,no matter what.They say that nothing lasts for ever,but I am a firm believer in the fact that for some,loves lives on even after they're gone."
Besides the love between Gerry and Holly, I also feel the intimate friendship between the three girls.Holly,Sharon and Denise.Three special girls with different characters can actually share their happiness or sadness.The say best about what friends mean to each other.Lucky that I have several very close girlfriends like them whom I can rely and trust on.Friends mean a lot to me and I prefer to share my real feelings with them.
Another thing I want to say is love your parents and brothers and sisters.They are always on your side whatever happens.Like Richard,I know he's kind of rigid,or maybe a serious big brother to whom you don't feel close,but when it comes to the family,he's your best brother and nobody can replace him. People have a way to live their lives so don't judge them.As the proverb goes"Never judge a book by its cover".
It's an ordinary story,yet not at all boring.I was moved all the way alone,sometimes I was just astonished by Gerry's consideration for Holly.Gerry was no doubt a great husband.
The only pity I feel for Holly is she didn't make it work with Daniel,the decent guy.But on second thinking,I should say it's the best they can expect.Let me call it destiny.Although Laura is sometimes a bitch,she means so much for Daniel that he just cannot live without her.It's definitely the destiny!
OK,so much for the novel《P.S. I Love You》,so far I love it.And an exciting idea forms in my brain that I will read all the novels written by Cecelia Ahern, the cute and sensitive female writer.I find her style is actually my cup of tea.
