Got up at 9:30am, gee, that was too late! ... had a bowl of cereal, dressed up, and then went to Starbucks with my unfinished novel -- The Bridges of Madison County, which is really an amazing fiction written by Rober James Waller.
It is a beautiful and understated real love story happened in a small town America. He is a photograhpyer and she is a farmer's wife who has two kids. One day he stopped and asked for directions in front of her house. She looked at him for less than five seconds, and she knew she wanted him. They two just like made for each other, but lost each other for many years, and then met again! They had four days together, just FOUR. but out of lifetime. She was taken a photo by him on the bridge, in which she's so beautiful, wild and free and....I'll say....alive. In four days, he gave her a whole lifetime, a universe, and made the separate parts of her into a whole. She always has used the word "powerful" a lot in thinking about him both physically and mentally. He travelled a lot as being a photographyer for a magzine, but he knew he fell in love deeply when he saw her the first time. She's the one he's looking for so many years. I believe that feeling even though I've never experienced ever.
However, they cant be together. As she said in the letter left to her children, she would not take the family into account, would not leave the family for him. She just requested her ashes would be scatered at Roseman Bridge where they had most enjoyable time together in their whole life. " I gave my family my life; I gave Robert Kincaid what was left of me"
Both of them died quietly, naturally, seperately. I can imagine how shocked she was when she got the news of his death. and I can imagine how lonely he was when he's dead. I was touched deeply by the interview made by writer and Robert's close and soul friend in the end of the book. I couldnt help wiping the tears when I was reading in Starbucks.
It was the first time I left my coffee cold. Sitting there and looking at people and Hype Park outside the window, I was completely into the novel with their love.
Oh, there is much much much much more than what I wrote down above in the novel. I strongly recommend it to you, anyone who loves reading. and not translation one, must English version, because only if, you could exactly feel what they felt.
