作者：David Colbert，这本书特别有意思，有很多书和电影背后不为人知的故事，我还应该买买这个作者写的The Magical world of Harry Potter。在新西兰的但尼丁市旧书店淘到的，相当涨姿势。了解了很多小说故事背后的故事，对魔戒的喜欢又深了一层。托尔金虽然有着极其专业的古典功底，却是一个极其现代的作家。所以80年前的这个故事，仍然可以打动人心！对了，书里爆料说披头士曾打算演魔戒，麦卡特尼演Frodo，列侬演Gollum……这脑洞大开的画面无法想像啊！

The book is about half 1 million words long, Torkien read a lot of it aloud to friends while he was working on that. It would probably take you more than two days and nights of reading to do it all at once.
By the time World War I ended in 1918, all of Torkien's close friends but one had been killed. Torkien was just 26 years old at the time.
Treebeard's blustery speaking style is meant as a private joke. It mimics the voice of Torkien's friend CS Lewis, author of the lion the witch and the wardrobe.
Torkien carefully choose the date that the fellowship begins its mission December 25, the same day the Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus.
