"Letters To Lily: On How The World Works"
If your grandfather happens to be an anthopoligist, imagine the scope of questions you can ask him about. This book is answering the questions the author's granddaughter had ask him and questions that he thought she would ask. Explaining to his granddaughter in a humorous and witty way in the form of letters. Topics consists "Love and friendship", "Violence and fear", "Belief and knowledge", "Power and order", "Self and others", "Life and death" and "Body and mind".
I loved how honest he was about all the wrongs in this world, but it's not about passing down negativity, there's the break-down of howit all happened, why it happened, how you could understand it. It is not giving you straight answers, because conclusions are often bias. I find myslef nodding sometime because i was reading a calm relatively subjective view. Now that you have the idea of how and why this world works as thus, it's up to you to make your own judgement if you wish. There're also beauty in the world, there's love, there's hope.
In a time like this (when i see this world with anger), it's good that i read a book about the world which was explained to be with total facts, very view author's own emotions. I find it provides some tranquility.
Note: This copy of mine was gifted by the author himself whom and whose wife Derek and i had the pleasure to meet and spend time with.
