A Tale of Two Cities
“It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to, than I have ever known.”
It is the ending of the Tale of Two Cities which moved me most. At first, I didn’t think it was a good book for readers to read it carefully, however, when I finished it, I looked some remarks of the book, and then I had a clear impression of this book. And now, I must admit that I love this book very much.
I found two things in this book, the first is that there is no good man or bad man is this world.
We all feel pity when we find there were so many poor men in French suffered maltreat from the old nobles in that time. However, when these people began a revolution, they were as cruelty and bloody as those nobles, and they were foolish and unreasonable to some innocent men. In our world, we cannot define a man or woman as good or bad. In my opinion, the word “good man” or “bad man” only occurs in children’s world. A man can be good in some aspects, but he can be evil in other aspects. Charles Dickens told us the truth that we cannot believe the absolutely good man or absolutely bad man. The only thing we can do is to devote ourselves to be a better man. And the only thing we can do is to keep changing to be a kind person.
The second thing I learned is the true love of Sydney Carton.
Sydney Carton loved Lucie very much, but he thought he was not good enough to marry her, so he decided to accompany with her. When her favorite husband had trouble, Sydney Carton decided to dedicate him life to save Charles Darnay. The reason of this was that he didn’t want his dear Lucie be sad.
I am very appreciate with Charles Dickens, for he taught me the real world and the real love.
