It is another novel I gave up when I already finished 200 pages. So I will not recommend it for how fantastic and intriguing the plot is. I watched the movie of it first, and I was impressed by the protagonist Catherine Morland and the irony voice when Jane Austin wrote about sensational novels.
Maybe because I've read the book and known the ending, the reading experience is not as enjoying as the movie.
However, I had to say it is the very novel of Jane Austin that is different from all her other novels. Northanger Abbey is written in the early years of Jane Austin and it has not been revised much. When I read this novel, I feel Jane is telling me what is going on instead of showing the stories with the author herself veiled. In this sense, Northanger Abbey is more close to Jane Austin. For example, there is more than one paragraph that Jane jumped out of t he story and narrated directly in her point of view, which draws closer the distance between author and readers.
The language in this novel is already filled with delicacy. The talent of this young writer has already been revealed in this little book.
