It's my first time to read Sidney Sheldon's book and it is breathtaking! The story is about two characters, Toby Temple and Jill Castle, equally ambitious about success and fame. They've both experienced so much along with their growth path. Toby, a huge talent with innocent face and likable personality, and good mentor--Clifton Lawrence. He became superstar overnight and he still felt empty until he met Jill. On the other hand, a small town girl Jill had to sell herself for opportunities until she met Toby. The two similar persons managed to become Golden Couple in LaLaLand. So far, a pretty cliche you can find in many stories. But the last one third book is twisting. Love, marriage, power, revenge and murder....all put together with suspense.
Sidney Sheldon's writing skill is phenomenal. He've accomplished this cliche storyline to intriguing and unputdownable. I like his language, concise but wit. Here are some examples.
1. A comic opens funny doors. A comedian opens doors funny
2. Who was it who had said."When you get there, there is no there..."
3. Time was not a friend that healed all wounds, it was the enemy that ravaged and murdered youth.
