看了一个Jeanette Winterson的视频，talking about her work Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit and mother-daughter relationship. As an adopted child and the daughter of a religiously flamboyant and emotionally depressive mother, she said that "I knew there was no safe place outside of myself, so I have to find a safe place inside of myself, and that's why I find the books."
She said her mother "was a monster, but she was my monster". "I never asked her if she loves me. I think she loves me on those day when she could love me. That was the best that she could do."
