Definitely fav series of the 2k18!! Finished the book in two days + another day for the immediate reread.
“The Nightbringer sings two notes. Rage, I think. Love. A raw, cold world lives in that short song—my world. Me.
I sing the two notes back to him. Two notes become four, four become fourteen. Rage for my enemies, I think. Love for my people. This is my song.”
The character development in this series is simply mind blowing. My heart aches for Laia and Elias undeniable fate, and I practically fell off my bed for that little heart to heart scene between the Helene (sry, the Shrike) and Harper (Plzzzzet then be together in the end! I started shipping them since the last book! The sparks between these two are too good to be wasted).//// And THE COOK! Who would of thought! But at the same time I was like “why didn’t I think of it earlier it was so damn obvious!” I would really really really really love to read a 3.5 or something about the lioness’ own story from her POV.
This part left me speechless for the longest time. I could feel the pain and the emotion in these lines and there’s almost a distinct feeling that the tune is playing in the back of my mind.
I can’t even make myself hate the antagonists bc they are just sooo REAL...which makes the emotional punches even more painful. TBH, I had a thing for Marcus throughout the series. Not in the oh-yeah-he’s-so-bf-material kind. But I just liked him. A lot. And I cried for him at the end. Yeah sure he’s real selfish and the things he did are jut straight out evil but his personality and his emotions are so rightfully displayed that you can’t help but want to get to know him. He’s like a scorned cat. He cares, but just not in the same way as others (idk how to describe it but he’s kinda like Draco in HP? That’s the closest reference I can make :/
When I’m halfway through the book, I started getting goosebumps in certain sections, the mood is overwhelming and soooo good. Out of 5 stars I want to rate this book a 10. I can’t even count the times I got teary eyed throughout the book. And at the same time, the wickedly awesome Mrs. Tahir also made sure we are begging for the next book with that evil ending. Uhhhh the suspense!!!!!
Can’t wait for the next book :,)
