I wrote this story in 1990anineteen years ago. I have three children; at the time they were five and four (twins). After tucking them into bed at night and turning the lights out my children would ask me to tell them a story. I enjoyed making them up, and a family tradition was born I thought I would write this one down. After that time my children grew up, of course, but as an elementary school teacher I would read the story to my new class each year for eleven years. I observed that they were totally mesmerized by the storyayou could hear a pin drop. The story is dreamlike, fantastical and colourful. It is a simultaneous representation in areal timea about the activities of children in heaven and on earth, and how they impact each other. An art lesson in heaven gets a little carried away and has a most delightful consequence for the boys and girls skating on an outdoor rink in the winter. A paradigm of two spheres intertwining with surprising results
