爱的倾诉与告白，给美少年和黑美人，爱的礼赞、爱中的忧虑、爱带来的快乐与活力，用不同的词句和内容表现，“我的创造就在这变化上演才”。衰老总是可憎，如严冬的阴暗寒冻，无论是自身与爱侣的年龄差，还是将来未来的时光痕迹，开篇十几首都是“衰老可怕，时光不留情，赶快生个孩子继承你的美貌吧”，不知道是劝不动还是心理变化，后面渐渐地转向“这诗将长存，并且赐给你生命”。

围绕同一主题能写出如此变化，可见莎翁诗才。虽然水平不一，其中最好的仍能保证他的不朽诗名。
