The focus on human rights, humanitarian law and the examples of Switzerland are definitely the signature of the author....yet I'd prefer to read what Brierly though about things at the time of his days.
Brierly's Law of Nations开篇便表明作者认为国际法的基础是自然法，而不是实证主义。如他所说，law exists for a certain ends。这当然也包括国际法。最后Clapham保留了Brierly第五版的结语：We must look for a true pic (for the intl law), not so much at what is being written, but at what is being done,...(though) most of which are remote from high politics and of little interest to the man or woman in the street。

刚刚读的时候会不适应那种散文似的写法，读者读者就带感了，都到最后很touching啊，想起他讲课一直强调的国际法的价值的转变，Clapham算是男神咯
