Duncan's ideal about dance performing, from my perspective, is quite contradictory. She trumpets to reglorify the ancient Greek art and restore the spiritual perspective of dance appreciation. Duncan's motifs in expression of freedom and communication are, however, against her art performing methods. During her long life in Europe, she claims that her dances are only performed in grandeur theatres, hardly accessible to the general public. Her art may, perhaps usher in a new wave of modern art; her purpose of free dance advocation is clearly off the track.
