2: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe是The Chronicles of Narnia的第二本书。很高兴看到电影非常忠实于原著。
　
香港的电影简介如下：
　
四個小孩無意中發現一個魔衣櫥，帶領他們去到納尼亞魔幻王國──一個曾經充滿精靈、小矮人和巨人的魔幻世界。但本來快樂和諧的納尼亞正被惡毒的白巫婆冰封，小孩們必須找尋正義的獅子王，合力解開白巫婆對納尼亞施下的咒語
　
最后一句话有两个问题：
1．　　　 不是孩子们找狮子王，而是狮子王来找孩子们；
2．　　　 咒语不是女巫下的，而是魔幻王国Narnia的创造者定下的规矩；
　
原著是这样写的：Deep Magic from the Dawn of Time
Every traitor belongs to the White Witch as her lawful prey. And for every treachery she has a right to kill.　 Edmund’s life is forfeit to her. His blood is her property.　 Unless she has the blood as the Law says, all Narnia will be overturned and perish in fire and water.
　
Aslan也同意。
“It is very true,” said Aslan. “I do not deny it.”
“Oh, Aslan!” whispered Susan in the Lion’s ear. “Can’t we –I mean, you won’t, will you? Can’t we do something about the Deep Magic? Isn’t there something you can do work against it?”
“Work against the Emperor’s Magic?” said Aslan, turning to her with something like a frown on his face. And nobody ever made that suggestion to him again.
　
Aslan于是用自己的生命换Edmund，把自己交给女巫，任凭他们戏弄凌辱致死。这一章在书里称为女巫的胜利（The Triumph of the Witch）。
　
下一章Deeper Magic from Before the Dawn of Time
Lucy and Susan开始几乎不相信Aslan的复活。
Aslan said “Though the Witch knew the Deep Magic, there is a magic deeper still which she did not know. Her knowledge goes back only to the dawn of time. But if she could have looked a little further back, into the stillness and the darkness before Time dawned, she would have read there a different incantation. She would have known that when a willing victim who had committed no treachery was killed in a traitor’s stead, the Table would crack and Death itself would start working backwards.
　
上面这段要对应《罗马书》看，Deep Magic是律法：因为罪的工价乃是死。（罗6:23）。律法是神定下的，天地要废去，神的话却一点一划都不能废去。耶稣来也说他不是要废去律法，乃是要成全。Deeper Magic是恩典，相信的人已经不再律法之下，因为恩典胜过律法。如果你为Aslan替Edmund死而感动，同样地也会因耶稣为我们上十字架而感动！“因我们还软弱的时候，基督就按所定的日 期为罪人死。为义人死，是少有的，为仁人死，或者有敢作的。惟有基督在我们 还作罪人的时候为我们死，神的爱就在此向我们显明了。罗5:6-8”。
　
这是整个救恩的道理。C.S. Lewis真是大牛，深入浅出。
　
整套书Narnia传奇得过英国优秀儿童文学大奖，四个人曾为整套书画插图，我的版本是Pauline Baynes的，在电影里最令人惊奇的是Mr. Tumnus的形象，简直跟插图一摸一样。电影里的Lucy好可爱！
　
第三本书The Horse and the Boy我也很喜欢，写的是摩西的故事。有时间再介绍。
