南北戰爭時期的奧德賽。主題深刻，切合美國歷史痛點，不愧紐約客最佳作品。但上帝視角的描述缺乏細節，情節沒有草灰蛇線，支線人物臉譜單薄，作品距離真正史詩還有距離。亮點是作者大量使用地道地描述大霧山地區動植物和農場生活的詞彙。這些詞彙雖然生僻，但因為作者巧妙地將他們穿插在上下文中，使讀者很輕易就能意會他們的意思，讓不同地區的讀者都能體會南部生活的氣息。

It is possibly the most beautiful story that I've ever read. A soldier broken in spirit decides to walk home to the woman he loved. I know you may know the movie, but “Abusolutely the movie cannot beg... It is possibly the most beautiful story that I've ever read. A soldier broken in spirit decides to walk home to the woman he loved. I know you may know the movie, but “Abusolutely the movie cannot begin to capture the truly spectacular parts of this story because they are not the surface level narratives that make it onto the big screen.
