毫不負責的拙劣翻譯和滿目瘡痍的編輯錯誤毀掉了這本書。從一些未經翻譯的部分推斷,原書質量頗高。

基本是版式设计书,夹带了不少字体设计的历史而已,于是这本书的翻译问题从书名即可窥见,里面实例以外的理论部分通通佶屈聱牙,完全读不懂。

好多明显的时间错误:分不清楚19和20世纪?翻译有些值得商榷的地方。但原作者提出了很多国内“操作手册”型讲义没有提到的意识形态上源流和前瞻性的分析(虽然现在已有很多应用和现象很普遍了)深入浅出,四星给原作者。
