Japanese culture is paradoxical, and probably self-contradictary to westerners. Yet Benedict has done a great job in explaining it in a lucid style. Perceptive and prophetic.

在了解我们那个奇怪邻居的问题上，这本书是一个很好的注解，可以避免国内作者习惯性的偏见。西方研究者对日本人和对中国人一样不了解，反而可以中立的对我们进行比较。

挺久之前的书了，现在的日本文化大概一定已经产生了很大的变化，所以如果是想在日本旅行、学习和生活，或是和日本朋友结交，大概不可过分依赖这本书中的内容来揣测。不过这本书在理解日剧和日本小说中的人物行为逻辑方面真的帮到了我很多。对日本文化有些微兴趣的话，这本书还是挺值得一读的。
