I am not yet so low but that my nails can reach unto thine eyes.”
Helena勇敢，知道自己将会面临议论(Your wrongs do set a scandal on my sex.)，却还是勇敢追爱，算是早期觉醒的女人，最后得到了半真半假的爱人，一副换了芯的皮囊，也算是求仁得仁。
Hermia追求自由，对抗权利。反抗雅典人王的命令，私奔途中却遇上了精灵王，再次被命运捉弄。一个是孤独终老，一个是失去爱人，逃与不逃，结局相相差无几。在精灵王的修错之后，重回雅典。她反抗了一击重锤，却又被一击软扇扇回来了，终究还是徒劳，什么都没能撼动。
两个女人都是，一旦陷入爱情中，友情就被抛到脑后了，嫉妒、背叛、中伤、反目，女人之间的友情是多么地脆弱，男人的爱情是多么易碎.
这篇可能性足够多。“剧里的悲剧”代替了“真实的悲剧”，最后Robin说’that you have but slumbered here/ While these visions did appear./ And this weak and idle theme,/No more yielding but a dream,/ Gentles,do not reprehend./ If you pardon, we will mend.’我不仅想到了罗密欧与朱丽叶，也想到了Keats的<Isabella>，只是都不能顺畅地写下这样的句子，像一个老人摸着小孩的头：it is but a dream. 小孩还是会哭，故事都是悲剧的内核，但此刻我荒谬地相信悲剧只是一个噩梦，而我还会醒来。
This play discusses the magic power of love and desire. It extends from the love affair in Romeo and Juliet to a whole play. The magical fairy world of the forest stems from Ovid's Metamorphoses. There is an essay by Catherine Belsey talking about the modern perspective of Midsummer Night's Dream at the end of this book.

剧本身吧，就是个闹剧，不击道搞这一出有侠个意义。看了Greenblatt (Norton) 才明白，这是一出让王宫贵族晚宴后、皇床前之间的三个小时不那么难熬的私房娱乐项目，所以美轮美奂的布景、音乐，漂亮的演员才重要，复杂的剧情不重要！（所以99年全明星也很重要☺️）说到Greenblatt，阅读一个“学术性简介”，感到既重要且享受，真是不易碰到。我也很少对人的语言能力、语感以及学术的、专业的训练感到真心仰慕。这人能写出莎氏传记的畅销书，我真是一点也不意外。（话说，莎氏喜剧看到现在真是，哎。可能威尼斯商人还能行点）

#engl1021 爱当然是仙王的灵药，偏激、卑微、蛮不讲理；但更重要的，爱或不爱并非过程，而只是轻易如睁眼的选择：oberon指责some true-love turned前置了它的存在，但罗宾回答说只是命运的overrule，因为每一人忠贞不渝，就有a million confounding oath and oath. 全篇的多重结构（仙宫-王国-情人）就像并非用婚礼而是演绎&调侃的爱情悲剧作结，爱在极限的情绪/现实与梦的边界中反复撕扯、反复质疑它存在的可能——但我写这么多也很好笑，因为what fools these mortals be! 不如像永远沉入灵药的demetrius一样，用睡眠缓解尽管in slight measure的悲伤，或者索性slumber here，长眠不醒吧
