有点意外, 并不喜欢海明威(也许只是这个短篇集). 在第一篇便读出了女性贬抑, 海明威作品中女性形象的可信度不如男性, 成也萧何败萧何. Will not read him soon, yet his A Clean, Well-Lighted Place, Old Man at the Bridge and True Nobility are my favourites.

以前看过的书里面主角A对入狱的主角B提到这篇小说，我以为这定是一篇让人看过之后充满希望的小说。其实不然。但是绝望倒也不至于。大抵觉得世事不过如此。。。

海明威笔下破碎的文学男性实在是太ego-centered了，自尊受损，情感和记忆无意义，对死亡和暴力的反应也要投射到对token女性角色的贬抑上......

后边一点跳着看，本来读外语就费劲，但它里面还夹一层外语。可我还是会啃第二遍，因为标记了些地方，纯属为了学英语。

再读海明威原文似乎明白了高中时读得吃力的原因，除了“冰山”文风还有断句口语化和美式“糙汉俚语”使用频率高的问题。很难不把《乞力马扎罗的雪》当做海明威的半自传来读，有属于奥地利雪山、君堡舞厅和巴黎街道的私人回忆，有写作事业和私生活纠缠不分造成的纷乱心绪，有迷惘一代挥之不去的战争伤痕，也有对肉体痛苦和死亡威压过于逼真的、非亲历者不能叙述的极限体验。乞力马扎罗雪顶的花豹是“硬汉/Code Hero”的终极理想，但搭乘一架Puss Moth私人飞机登上神之居所却是全篇让我印象最深的一笔，极具时代气息和海明威个人特色。
