其实觉得hooven太太和女儿的部分可以删去，写到另外的题材里，直接以shelgrim在小麦里窒息结尾更加讽刺。不过这样又像McTeague一样了，显然Norris想通过这本小说进行社会批评，the belittled human being and their fights against each other, driven by the more profound FORCES beyond their horizon and comprehension
