a novel that narrates with "a gentleness more gentle than the closing of an eyelid"
being the earliest novel by truman capote, the literary merits of this book could be of less importance as i see this book as a testament of "an original voice". the delicate wording of the inner struggle of grady mcneil is definitely an assuring sign.

翻译成“夏天穿过”更好些，在访谈中提过的一个“塞进了抽屉的故事”，最后被发现了。略显稚嫩的情节处理能力，但是故事开始转移到纽约，离开新奥尔良了

不好看，被作者遗弃的初代手稿，重新被发现又被出版。一种充满丰沛感情的中学生堆砌辞藻的感觉。后记里卡波特的律师也说犹豫要不要出版，其实应该在前言里说的，这样就可以让读者早点选择要不要去读了。
