作者的文笔很美。在读这本书时，我不只一次庆幸自己会英文，第一次觉得英文表述也可以这般美妙。

算是高中历史的回顾吧，浅白易懂，虽然作者不一定做到了他所说的“全球史观”，但提出了这一概念和目标，在史学史上也是很重要的。

通史毕竟不是某一国某一朝的历史，所以需要典型，详略要得当。不过毕竟是西方人写的，书中的预期还是有些俯视性，介绍欧洲文明之外的文明有失偏颇。
