译本语言现代（跟莎氏比），有点感觉不像古早剧作，人们思想也没有时代距离感。印象比较深的是瞎眼预言师对俄狄浦斯说，我有与你同等的讲话权力，我预言何需王叔授意。古希腊人面对一国之君的态度。读前觉得，不过是命运的狗血玩笑，个人无错，没必要自轻自贱自残。然而真相快要揭晓的时候、揭晓之后，还是有感于结尾时排山倒海的绝望和悲伤。唉。

(David Grene译本)经上说："凡自高的，必降为卑。"(俄狄浦斯开场即强调：I Oedipus whom all men call the Great.) 最后自我放逐的俄狄浦斯也像旧约里写的"替罪羊"。
