When you tell them (the grown-ups) that you have made a new friend, they never ask you any questions about essential matters. They never say to you, "what does his voice sound like? What games does he love best? Does he collect butterflies?" Instead, they demand: "how old is he? How many brothers has he? How much money does his father make?" To forget a friend is sad. Not everyone has had a friend. And if I forget him, I may become like the grown-ups who are no longer interested in anything but figures.
When we grow up, we have to face many evaluations from society. The definition of success becomes realistic and can be judged by the numbers and standards like salary, assets, houses, etc. Then, when parents teach their children, they will care more about the same things. Friendship becomes different mixed with many mutual benefits.
I know a planet where there is a certain red-faced gentleman. He has never smelled a flower. He has never looked at a star. He has never loved anyone. He has never done anything in his life but adds up figures. And all day he says over and over, just like you: "I am busy with matters of consequence!"
Go to experience, to feel, to think, to find what you really want to do.
I ought to have judged by deeds and not by words. She cast her fragrance and her radiance over me. I ought never to have run away from her. I ought to have guessed all the affection that lay behind her poor little stratagems. Flowers are so inconsistent. But I was too young to know how to love her. What can I do for you is just let you go.
This rose has a little temperament that many girls in love have - hypocritical, self-respecting and always hope to get more praise and attention. The little prince is a boy who is in love for the first time. He does not know much about love but he is growing and realized that now.
It is much more difficult to judge oneself than to judge others. If you succeed in judging yourself rightly, then you are indeed a man of true wisdom.
This is what the king said about judging oneself.
The tippler is drinking to forget that he is ashamed. However, he is ashamed of drinking. It sounds like an absurd loop, but sometimes, even you knew it is not good - you cannot control yourself.
"It is an act too often neglected," said the fox. "it means to establish ties."
""To establish ties?"
"To me, you are still nothing more than a little boy who is just like a hundred thousand other little boys. And I have no need of you. And you, on your part, have no need of me. To you, I am nothing more than a fox like a hundred thousand other foxes. But if you tame me, then we shall need each other. To me, you will be unique in all the world. To you, I shall be unique in all the world..."But if you tame me, it will be as if the sun came to shine on my life . I shall know the sound of a step that will be different from all the others. Other steps send me hurrying back underneath the ground. Yours will call me, like music, out of my burrow. And then look: you see the grain-fields down yonder? I do not eat bread. Wheat is of no use to me. The wheat fields have nothing to say to me. And that is sad. But you have hair that is the colour of gold. Think how wonderful that will be when you have tamed me! The grain, which is also golden, will bring me back the thought of you. And I shall love to listen to the wind in the wheat.
The best two paragraphs in the book.
It would have been better to come back at the same hour,” said the fox. “If, for example, you came at four o’clock in the afternoon, then at three o’clock I shall begin to be happy. I shall feel happier and happier as the hour advances. At four o’clock, I shall already be worrying and jumping about. I shall show you how happy I am! But if you come at just any time, I shall never know at what hour my heart is to be ready to greet you . . . One must observe the proper rites. It has done me good because of the color of the wheat fields. But in herself alone she is more important than all the hundreds of you other roses: because it is she that I have watered; because it is she that I have put under the glass globe; because it is she that I have sheltered behind the screen; because it is for her that I have killed the caterpillars (except the two or three that we saved to become butterflies); because it is she that I have listened to, when she grumbled, or boasted, or ever sometimes when she said nothing. Because she is my rose.
Finally the little prince knew what is the meaning of ties and love.
It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.
The secret present from fox.
“Men have forgotten this truth,” said the fox. “But you must not forget it.
You become responsible, forever, for what you have tamed.”
It is about the responsibility after the ties were established.
In one of those stars I shall be living. In one of them I shall be laughing. And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night. And when your sorrow is comforted (time soothes all sorrows) you will be content that you have known me. You will always be my friend. You will want to laugh with me. And you will sometimes open your window, so, for that pleasure...It will be as if, in place of the stars, I had given you a great number of little bells that knew how to laugh.
Time soothes all sorrows.
I still remember the sentence which my friend wrote to me before. When you are not happy, you can look up at the sky and you will find that the sky is so close to us.
“It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.” “It is the time you have wasted for your rose that makes your rose so important.” 小狐狸真智慧啊。所以最终,我们最需要的是时间,最珍贵的是时间。我的生命不过是一段转瞬即逝的时间。

The Little Prince 读书笔记
1.
原句:
“Well, I must endure the presence of two or three caterpillars if I wish to become acquainted with the butterflies.”
感想:
As the saying goes, "No pains,no gains."But the former sentence full of metaphor and imagination is more delicate.
2.
原句:
“I ought to have judged by deeds and not by words. ”
感想:
We have plunged into the sleek words in daily life more often and made a belief. Perhaps we would regret if we understood others' real intention, but all the spilt milk could not be retrieved. To make matters worse, some people, just like me, judge objects by imagination instead of reason. Our imagination covers a magnificent mask on others' deeds and words.
3.
原句:
“Then you shall judge yourself,” the king answered. “that is the most difficult thing of all. It is much more difficult to judge oneself than to judge others.
感想:
The German philosopher, Immanurel Kant, exclaimed, “Freedom is self-discipline.”It will be more tricky once the thing concerns oneself. We need to know ourselves before we know others. Difficult as it is, we have known the problem at least. It will keep us out of conceit possibly.
4.
原句:
“Why are you drinking?”demanded the little prince.
“So that I may forget,” replied the tippler.
“Forget what?” inquired the little prince, who already was sorry for him.
“Forget that I am ashamed,” the tippler confessed, hanging his head.
“Ashamed of what?” insisted the little prince, who wanted to help him.
“Ashamed of drinking!”
感想:
Hahahahahah……(ಥvಥ)
5.
原句:
“I administer them,” replied the businessman. “I count them and recount them. It is difficult. But I am a man who is naturally interested in matters of consequence.”
感想:
Here is a man who have thought that he owned all of the stars and counted them everyday. People often regard count money as the happiest thing. In fact, it is barely a monotonous job of accountant. Of course, spending money would be more exhilarating than counting them, but is so pity that we could not pay a dot of star for a loaf of bread, forever.
6.
原句:
“I always want to rest,” said the lamplighter. For it is possible for a man to be faithful and lazy at the same time.
感想:
This is a binary world. We live with truth and falsehood, hope and regret, moderation and appetite, etc.It might as well has no kindness or malignity, the significant thing is just a kind of choice.
7.
原句:
When one wishes to play the wit, he sometimes wanders a little from the truth.
感想:
The truth likes a silver lining in the cave, but the falsehood is not opposite to it. Even the falsehood spawns the truth sometimes. So, no matter of reality or falsity, they are neither true nor wrong. However, wit makes them more interesting. As for me, it is not important to keep away from truth because I have never touched it. By contrast, the wit often driven me to go through the dark cave.
8.
原句:Words are the source of misunderstandings.
感想:Silence is gold. But it also causes misunderstandings. Perhaps, misunderstanding is inevitable because we could not express all the ideas in our brain and others would not feel it. The exchange is nothing more than a sort of sympathy. Pointless as it is, one must say a lot and then stay silent.

第一次读它时我13岁,完全不知道它想表达什么,第二次重读我23岁,一晃十年了。我想这本书,只有在人生的特定阶段才能读懂吧,看到结尾忍不住泪如泉涌。
