The most poorly written novel I’ve seen in five years. An outdated one in which I see no reason for reading in 2022. All characters are tools that serve to say whatever the smart ideas the author wants them to say (and in the most unrefined way possible). Were it not an assigned reading I wouldn’t even bother finishing the first three chapters.

A real life story about holding a self. Quite impressive, although you may pay for that for being yourself, but the important thing is, you like to being you.
Sunny / 3.5 the kind of uninhibited girlhood reminds me of to kill a mocking jay. Wished the language to be more embellished. And the ending to be more rosy. Since she left UF the book kinda went on a downturn. Couldn’t be that lucky that she met Calvin that took her under his wing. Her city adventures are lackluster.

渐入佳境。最后三章看到不能自拔。甩掉生活的泥淖，认清自我认清queer的身份，最后的回首与拥抱在情理之中来的，又出人意料地真挚与感动。作为一本畅销不衰的小说，它太棒了。

感觉第二部分有些不明白 结局也有些不理解 不过这样子的结局也许才真的符合molly所说的not marry 很喜欢孩童时期的molly
