A Play of Book
Play is a performing art, in which the actors play different roles and tell stories according to the plot. To me, a book designer plays a similar role as an actor, or scenarist or director when conveying visual information. Book decoration is widely different from book play; the latter gives a book designer more room in innovation and more responsibility.
Play implies another meaning"to amuse", that is, to explore the unknown and come up with new ideas with a child's delight and curiosity. Play is a mentality, a spirit of insatiable craving for originality, and a positive, diligent working attitude.
This book stages on peculiar scenes about 40 Chinese book designers in the arena of book design.
