Confucian perfectionist ethics can work to the benefit of democracy. A well-functioning democracy needs its citizens to be virtuous and civil. Otherwise, democracy can degenerate into dysfunctional partisanship and competition. Confucian ethical insight and reflection can help make democracy ethically more attractive and practically more feasible.

遵循perfectionism的路径定位儒学，视其为一种围绕“良善生活如何实现”这一问题展开的思想集合。在此基础上，作者意识到儒学中理想=大同与非理想(nonideal)=小康的距离，视前者为后者的尺度的同时，在具体问题的论述中一直保持这一二重结构。比如，人权的问题，大同（理想社会）与小康（现实社会）之中，人权的重要性不同。前者之中，人权不被理解为占有性。后者之中，人权是弱者保护自我的重要道具。区别在于是否有过一种有德性的生活的条件；而且，即使是在无德性的小康之中，德性依然是权利发挥效力的前提条件或者说指引条件。总而言之，比较视野，立场温和，但是将儒学塞进德伦理学的框架里，是否忽视了儒学的超越的性格？也即是说，作者的论述结构“伦理学-政治学”之中，儒学形而上学的部分被消解掉了。

人是好人，文章也写得清楚，但政治天真主义（或者说政治回避主义）运用到现实就是为专制做背书。

很佩服陈祖为可怕的学术功力，然而我觉得不如蒋庆有新意，因为就是想办法把儒家的东西往罗尔斯上套。
