The Progressive Movement

Introduced in the last decade of the 19th century as a direct response to the changes brought about by industrialization, the progressive movement helped reform the political process in the United States. Progressives believed that monopolies should be eliminated and the U.S. government should play a more prominent role in dealing with America's social ills.
