所谓真实的新加坡建国史，其实知乎上几个问答就讲明白了。读完这本故事线很多的漫画，反而没有很impressive。

Sonny Liew的”本土故事”讲的精彩；它没有传统意义上的高潮，也没有惊心动魄的戏剧冲突，中国三线城市的哥的姐们尚能提一嘴的新加坡历史更谈不上新奇。然而它充满了华人社会浓郁的熟悉感，东亚国家鲜明又相似的国家故事，还有历史红尘里种种大小人物务实和抗争。至于陈福财，他大概是不愿意袖手旁观只能选择见证历史车辙的你我。

很好的叙事手法，很棒的通俗新加坡历史读物。尤其喜欢最后的alternative history点子，作者批判李光耀，但也透露出一种无奈：即使历史不一样，或许也不见得有更好的办法。

非常精彩啊！一开始还真以为这是一本Charlie Chan的自传，读着读着发觉这是本漫画小说，接着读到最后猛然惊醒，这是本书其实在讲述真实的历史。

表面上是传记，其实是带出新加坡建国史。表面上是追寻梦想的漫画家，实则是讴歌理想主义的林清祥，即使再来一次告诉他结局，林清祥依旧也会那么做。因为没有社会主义的抗争，就不会有资本主义的妥协。

东亚近代史始终是息息相关的。一个漫画家的一生，一个现代国家的历史，很有创意。感动于Charlie对漫画的热爱以及作为漫画家的社会责任感终生不渝。最后章节关于林青松的那部分漫画看得眼泪掉下来，有种虽千万人吾往矣的悲壮。
