和《烛烬》一样，故事本身并不复杂。马洛伊善于描写简单的褶皱里的复杂人性，不过这几个青年的(社会政治层面的)反叛，以及反叛者中间的反叛者(阶层和人性)比起《烛烬》就弱了。庆幸先看的是《烛烬》，否则会错过《烛烬》。
