艾瑞克•林克莱特（1899—1974）是一位多产作家，作品包括长篇小说、短篇小说、军事历史小说、游记。他创作的儿童小说仅有两部：《月亮上的风》（The Wind on the Moon, 1944）和《深绿之海的海盗》（The Pirates in the Deep Green Sea, 1949），数量不多，却是精品。前者在出版当年便获得英国享誉最高的儿童文学奖“卡内基文学奖”。也许是受其他类别小说的创作影响，林克莱特的儿童小说别具一格，不仅融合了军事、历史、游记等元素，而且处处透漏着对生命的思考和感悟，思想影响深远。
