种族隔离制度是全书所有故事的叙事线索，不管是小崔自己的混血出身，在学校交朋友，谈恋爱，去街区上倒买倒卖赚钱，在看守所里选择坐在哪个人堆里，重新寻找父亲……这种制度的影响无处不在。在这种背景下坎坷长大的南非有色人种男性，居然在美国文化类节目里达到事业高峰，真是奇迹。不知道他在美国这半截故事里怎么重新看自己。

一口气全部看完了，就在看过他的脱口秀表演不到一个月的时间里，把他的人生都看了一遍。一个会讲故事、充满喜剧天分的人，用前半段人生经历讲完了一个普遍的规律：荒谬的制度总是会天然孕育喜剧，因为它在本质上就充满了讽刺。
